On June 6, 1944, American Forces, under Moberly's own General Omar N. Bradley, landed on the beaches of Normandy to liberate Europe; this was the beginning of the end of WWII. June 6, 2024 will mark the eightieth anniversary of this world changing event. In order to commemorate this momentous event, a day of celebration and honor is being planned for June 8, consisting of the Laying of a Wreath at the Rothwell Park War Memorial at 11:00 AM, the showing of the movie THE LONGEST DAY at the Fourth Street Theater at 2:00 PM, and a catered dinner by Don's at the VFW Hall at 5:30.
